GEA Grasso compressor
The screw compressor has fewer components and no vulnerable parts, so it operates reliably and has a long service life. Currently, its application range is very wide. In recent years, the manufacturing level of domestically produced screw machines has been continuously improving, but imported screw machines are still the preferred choice in some operating places with high stability requirements. The German Graso compressor is widely used in domestic chemical, pharmaceutical, refrigeration, energy, food and other fields due to its advanced design, simple structure, and high manufacturing accuracy.
The screw machine may seem simple in structure and easy to maintain, but in reality, the designs of different screw machine manufacturers are different. During the maintenance process, a gap adjustment that is not in place or an incorrect installation sequence can lead to rapid damage to the screw machine again, and even the compressor may become stuck and scrapped.
Sliding bearings have the characteristics of no wear and long service life. GEA Glaso's screw compressor uses a total of 4 sliding bearings to support the front and rear journals of the male and female rotors. When the compressor is maintained properly and the working conditions are stable, the sliding bearings can be used for 10 years or even longer. The replacement of sliding bearings is quite complex, requiring the use of professional tools for disassembly, and even more so for installation. Any slight mistake may lead to the failure of the sliding bearings.
The sliding bearings used in GEA Grasso compressors are characterized by high price and precision. Due to its high price, some informal repair shops have used domestically produced sliding bearings as a substitute. Last year, a customer in Shandong chose a non professional manufacturer to repair the GEA Grasso compressor due to their desire for cheap repair prices. After the compressor was repaired and installed, the unit experienced a major vibration fault within less than three months of use. The customer did not accept the explanation from the repair shop that the oil quality was not up to standard. They went to Suzhou Suoge for two repairs. After dismantling and inspection, it was found that the original sliding bearings were not used, and all the sliding bearings were scrapped, resulting in varying degrees of new wear on the rotor.

The maintenance manager is the former head of the GEA compressor overhaul workshop, who has received training from GEA maintenance experts in Germany. Nearly a hundred GEA Grasso compressors have been repaired.
The current manufacturing accuracy of domestic small factory sliding bearings cannot meet the usage requirements of GEA Glaso screw compressors. After installation, there is a deviation in the gap between the sliding bearings and the shaft, and the reliability of the surface coating material is not up to standard.
