The screw machine may seem simple in structure and easy to maintain, but in reality, the designs of different screw machine manufacturers are different. Screw compressors usually have front, middle, and rear housing positioning holes. The housing positioning of ordinary screw machines is relatively rough and is usually achieved by ordinary positioning pins. What is the difference between regular positioning pins and GEA's specialized positioning pins? (The left side of the figure shows the GEA specific positioning pin)
Ordinary positioning pins cannot meet the housing positioning requirements in GEA Grasso compressor maintenance. The positioning diameter of a regular positioning pin is not variable, and in other words, it is an iron rod. After the installation of the casing positioning, it is no longer possible to adjust the positioning accuracy of the casing through its own diameter changes, which causes inconsistency between the repaired casing positioning and the compressor casing positioning at the factory. This inconsistency may only be 0.005-0.03mm, and this error may not be a problem on ordinary screw machines, as the manufacturing accuracy of ordinary screw machines may reach 0.02mm. However, for the GEA Grasso compressor, this error has eroded all its advantages produced as a high-precision machine tool in Germany. Inaccurate positioning of the casing will lead to unsmooth meshing of the male and female rotors, which is manifested in excessive vibration during operation and easy wear of the thrust bearings. GEA's dedicated positioning pin utilizes German high-tech hydraulic technology. After the positioning pin is installed in place, the diameter of the positioning pin can be increased by rotating the small screw on the left side to achieve accurate positioning of the shell twice, reducing the positioning error to 0.001mm
